Entryway Windows

Posted By:  Stephanie

Will, My Girl and I live in a manufactured home that had not been updated in years.  Lucky for us, although Will is handy, his dad/my father-in-law LOVES projects.  Before we moved in he did some woodwork and put in new floors (I will show you those at a later time) that have been used twice before, starting as a gym floor.  I just LOVE knowing they have been used twice before because I like to imagine what type of story they have and even more because you know I love a good excuse to recycle/repurpose!

One of the updates that he did was take out these icky glass pieces in the entryway that look from the dining room to the entry way and vice versa.  I love what he did with the holes that were left.  A few pieces of wood, trim and stain and we have a great new open space while salvaging the wall that works as a great divider.

It's amazing what a difference it makes to open up a space like this while removing an eye sore at the same time.  You may have noticed the difference in wall color from the "before" to "after" photos.  That's because Will is a genius painter and painted almost every wall in the house before we moved in.  You can see his handy work HERE when he helped me transform our master closet into my craft room.

What SMALL change have you made in your house that made a BIG difference?

(I only call it small because I didn't have to do it.  If I were to take on this project I would probably still be working on it haha!)

Entry Table and Weekend Recap

Posted By: Kristi

I did it, I found an entry table. I am happy with how it turned out and think it is going to be the perfect solution for staying organized.

This is what we had before.

I love the mirror but it was never meant to go there. Honestly, I never could decide on where to put it so it just landed there. I have a few ideas for it now that it needs to be moved, I will show you soon.

Here it is, our new and improved solution.

This is the Hemnes shoe cabinet from Ikea. I love it because we can store our shoes and leashes but also set our keys, wallets, etc. on top. I haven't decided if I want to keep the mirror the color it is or spray is a deep blue, green or some other color. What do you think? I am kind of liking it how it is right now. Something about the shine makes me smile. It was only $2 at a garage sale.

I didn't use the knobs/pulls it came with. Instead, I used these I found at Anthropologie.

I think they dress it up a little which is perfect since it is in our living room.

Do you have the Hemnes? How are you liking it?

As for the rest of our weekend, we did not end up going to 1000 Acres. Instead, we went to Carson's parents (my future in-laws) house to swim. It was the perfect day! The weather was hot but I had no idea how hot it was since I was in the nice cool pool. It felt AMAZING, I am hoping to go back there again this week.

We took Kloee and McKnight and they loved it too. McKnight enjoyed following the little kids around (he hates water but loves babies) and Kloee swam with us in the pool.

Kloee was all smiles and we were proud parents! She was such a great little swimmer! She had swam in a river, ocean and lake before but this was her first time in a pool. She dove right in and was excited the entire day.

Have a great Monday! Hopefully your Monday goes smooth, it is always hard to get back in the groove of things after a nice relaxing weekend.

Entry Table, Hot Weather and Weekend Plans

Posted By: Kristi

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

This weekend is supposed to be a hot one! I think we will spend it near a river or in a pool. Our house gets hot and stuffy so escaping for the day sounds like a plan to me!

We are thinking about taking our dog babies to a place called 1000 Acres. It is supposed to be a doggie heaven. You can take your dogs there and let them off their leash. I guess there is some great places for you and your doggies to swim together too. If we go, it will need to be in the morning before it is too hot. Too much exercise on a hot day for a doggie is not good! I can't imagine being covered in all that hair and being expected to walk all around in the hot sun. Here are a couple pictures I googled of 1000 Acres.

This weekend I would also like to buy an entry table. We usually enter our house through our back/side door. The issue is, when we use the front door we have nowhere to set our keys and other belongings and so we misplace them. We spend the morning rushing around trying to find everything so that we can leave the house. This is not fun and very frustrating. Soon, I will show you what I made for the back/side door that makes things easier on us. Anyway, enough of my blabbering. Here are some ideas I found for entry tables.

I love the dark color and legs on this one. I also think the mirror is a great dramatic touch.

This one has nice clean lines and is narrow, perfect for our small space.

This would allow for us to store shoes and leashes while not taking up much space at all.

I love how this one floats. The chairs underneath are awesome!

Next week, I will show you what we decide on. Hopefully by then I will have it bought and decorated. = )
