Wedding - Hangover Kits

Because we had a destination wedding, we thought it would be nice to put together welcome bags for each cabin (we went on a week long cruise). Included in each welcome bag was a hangover kit.

In my opinion, welcome bags aren't too expensive and really add a special touch. I will find more pictures to show you what we included in each bag, but for now, here are details about the hangover kits.

I put everything into small cellophane bags and cut out the emergency cross from my Silhouette. As you can tell from my current posts, my Silhouette machine has been getting a ton of use lately.  Next, I searched online and went to the Dollar tree to find things to add to the bags. Here is what we included:

Cough Drops - Dollar Tree
Alka Seltzer - Amazon
Ear Plugs - Amazon
Moist Wipes - Dollar Tree
Advil - Advil
Band Aids - Dollar Tree
Electro Mix - Amazon

They really came in handy, even for other reasons, non-hangover related.

DIY Wedding Invites

I recently showed you our wedding invites and promised to give you details later. Well, later has finally come. I have been putting this off because explaining isn't as fun as doing. There are so many details and I don't want to forget anything. = )

One day, I was searching Pinterest when I found this image.

I thought it was pretty cool and decided to make my own. Mine are almost exactly the same, minus the ribbon.

Instead of printing out addresses and pasting them on the luggage tag, I taped the luggage tag onto card stock and fed it through my printer. I have had the best of luck with my printer so far, I have really tested what it can do.

Once I was done with the luggage (packaging), I started on the actual invite. I wanted to make a message in a bottle and quickly decided that I wanted the message (invite) to be cloth. I ordered the boxes, bottles, sand and shells from ColoredSand.com.

My sister, Samantha, was a huge help with making with the actual invite. We lined up the bottles and filled them with a bit of both sand and shells.

Next, I created the invite on my Silhouette machine.

Unfortunately, my Silhouette blade was dull so I had to cut the invites out myself. Otherwise, I could have saved myself a few steps. Instead, I cut out the cloth (fabric) I had purchased for our invites, a little smaller then the card stock and then spray adhesived it onto my card stock.

Once it was stuck onto the card stock, I fed it through my printer.

 

We then cut them out along the line and tore them off the card stock.

 

Stephanie let is use her grommet machine so we could add a grommet to the top corner of the invite, making it easier to pull the message out of the bottle.

I fed jute through the grommet and added a circle key label that I stamped with a B (our last name is/will be, Bizon). Here is the completed message in a bottle.

Getting stuff done!

I know I have mentioned a few times, I am getting married in April! WOOHOO! I am super excited but have also suddenly gotten super busy preparing. I am DIY all the invitations and I am getting pretty detailed on them. I will share the details soon. We are having a destination wedding so we have decided that once we return, we will have a reception/open house at our home for everyone who couldn't join us. This week I was working on the Save the Dates for that event.

This picture didn't turn out too well (I am still learning how to use my camera) but you get point, right? The true colors are much more vibrant. I wanted it to look like a postcard, you know how I like to roll....easy and fun. ; )

I have a bunch more DIY wedding stuff coming up and I will be sharing it all. For those of you who don't care about all this wedding talk, only a few more months! ; )

Save The Date - Hawaii Wedding

Yay, it's Saturday! Happy weekend everyone! What a crazy week this has been! Yesterday was my last day with my current employer where I worked for a total of almost ten years. I am really excited to make the move to my new place of employment where many exciting challenges await me. I will however miss the place I am leaving. The good thing is that I can easily keep in touch with everyone and that Carson still works there. Did I ever mention that Carson and I met at work?? More on that later. ; )

Now, on to the Save The Date that I mention on the title of this post. A long time family friend of Carson's family is getting married in Hawaii next year. She mentioned that she still needed to create her Save The Dates and asked where I had bought ours (she had just received ours in the mail the week before). I told her I had made them and that I would be happy to help her if she wanted. She took me up on the offer and said I could run with it. The only thing that she was sure she absolutely wanted on the Save The Dates was her wedding colors, orange and purple.

She is getting married in Hawaii so I thought a Save The Date in the shape of a flower could be cool. I called her up to confirm that this would be alright and she said that she had just been thinking that as well. PERFECT! I pulled out my Silhouette and got to work.

I knew I wanted a layered look so I went to the Silhouette store online and started looking at my flower options. I finally found on I liked and started creating. On the bottom flower I used her main wedding color and added the wedding details.

I wanted to highlight the date of the wedding so that it would really stand out so I cut out the date on my Silhouette, on the smaller flower that would be on top.

I used a green brad that I had bought at the craft store to hold them together.

Soon I will show you our Save The Date and explain how it was created.
