Happy Tuesday! I hope your week has started off as a good one. Can you believe we are SO close to the holidays? I can't, this year went all to fast.
Yesterday I decided to take an idea that I found on Every Day Game Plan and put it into action with my girl.
First I got the largest bowl we have and put warm water in it with some dish soap. I made it bubbly and then gave Little Lou her favorite kitchen items to play in the water.
Here she is checking out the bubbles.
She wasn't really sure about the bubbles so I tried to show her they weren't so bad by playing in the bubbles first.
That didn't work out so well. Her favorite kitchen items ended up out of the bowl because...
she thought the bubbles were NOT COOL!
So I dumped out the bubbles and gave her some fresh water to work with. She went for it. At one point she was even trying to put her face in the bowl and rub water all over her face, silly girl. Let me show you how much she enjoyed this activity...
THIS MUCH!
I don't know about most kids, but I really thought she would enjoy playing in the bubbles. Oh well, she loved this activity anyway without them. After playing in the water for a long time, I needed to get other things done but she didn't agree with being "all done", so I dumped out the water, dried the bowl and turned it over to let her bang on it and make noise instead. She was okay with that.
Now go get a bowl out momma, your little one(s) wants to play in the water!
What other ideas do you have for water activities?
I've done this and my daughter loved it! She spilled water on the floor by accident and she took her cloth and cleaned it up by herself and proceeded to send me hints that I needed to stem mop because she crawled to other areas and wiped up scuff marks:) Your daughter was a happy and cute little camper!
ReplyDeleteAwww...poor girl didn't like the bubbles. I thought they all liked bubbles too. Good to know :).
ReplyDelete@Latoya - So funny, when I was down there I was thinking the same thing about needing to mop!
ReplyDelete@Kristen - Seriously, I really did think she would like the bubbles, maybe ever kid but mine likes them?? At least she ended up being a happy girl with plain water.
Such adorable faces!!! It's amazing how simple children really are. Just a plain cardboard box and they can play for hours! And apparently, a bowl a plain water and some kitchen tools! Very cute! I bet that cutie pie keeps you laughing all the time! Hi! New follower from Tuesday Friend Connect! I hope you'll stop by and follow back! :) Through the Eyes of a Tiger
ReplyDeleteThis such a good idea! I could've used it over the rainy weekend. It doesn't rain too much in SoCal so I was frantically thinking of ideas to entertain the Chitlin. I will have to save this idea for another rainy day! ;)

I once filled both sides of the sink up for my ladies with all kinds of gadgets and they LOVED it, but my floor and kiddos were soaked, so now we do these kinds of things outside usually...lol.

ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that you gave that a try! Lol, it cracks me up that she didn't like the bubbles. I really like the funnel and other tools you gave her. I never thought of that.:) Thanks so much for the shoutout.:)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice compliments on my sweet girls pictures!
ReplyDeleteI had the same thoughts about the mess, I went into it prepared for water everywhere figuring I asked for it. She was surprisingly clean about her water play which was handy. Clean up was nice and easy for me!
@Ana - Where we live we don't see a lot of sunny days so most of our activities are inside. I would LOVE to be outside more often!
